Katie Turned 12!!!

Katie turned 12 years old on July 5th.  She tried very hard to be our firecracker baby but was a few hours late.  Actually she was 1 full week late.  She had dark curly hair when she was born, the total opposite of her big sister.  Katie loves to celebrate and enjoys having a summer birthday so near the 4th of July.  This year she chose the evening meal, opened her presents, ate cake and ice cream and then we headed out to her new adventure- Cake Decorating at Hobby Lobby, this was part of her gift that she asked for.  So far she has had two lessons and she's doing a great job.  The cakes are very tasty so it is going to be easy to pack on the pounds for our family.  Katie is a pleasure to be around.  Giggly most all the time and quick to offer help, especially when helping with the little ones.  We are so proud of her, she is becoming a wonderful young lady.  This year she has moved from the children's choir to the Sunday morning adult choir.  She enjoys her time with Daddy on the way home from choir practice on Wednesday nights.  They do lots of singing and acting silly on the way home.  Or so I've heard.  We love you very much Katie (KK)!

Happy Birthday Samuel

Our sweet little Sam turned one a few weeks ago.  We love this little guy so much!  He came along so quickly behind his sister that some thought he might not get all the love and attention he needs.  Well, with his adorable smile it is really hard not to love on him all the time.  The last picture is my favorite.  It is how he looks when he is taking off after Sarah to try to catch up with her and grab the bottom of her dress.  Our biggest one year old by far- he is almost 30 pounds.  Happy Birthday to our little boy!

Bows, Bows and More Bows...

For a few months now I have been trying to make bows for Sarah.  Well now I finally have made a few that I consider OK for her to wear.  I am still learning but we have a fun time picking out ribbon and making the bows.  Not to mention it is much less expensive to make them instead of buying them.  We have tried to match up several of her outfits with these bows.  The pink and black is probably my favorite so far.  It will be for an adorable outfit for the fall that was a birthday gift.  Can't wait to try to do some fall and Christmas bows.

She Turned 2!!!

                                      Sarah Madelyn Parris

Sarah turned two a few weeks ago!  We grilled out hot dogs and had cake and ice cream.  It was a small and simple celebration but one that she thoroughly enjoyed.  Her favorite part was playing with bubbles outside with the others after she had opened her presents.  It's hard to believe that we have a two year old in the house again, but she is so funny!  Doing new things all the time and trying to be just like the older ones.  She is fascinated with Samuel since he can crawl around so good.  He wants to be right with her and she loves that (till he knocks down all her blocks).  I am enjoying seeing these two do things together that the other ones didn't do, since they were spread farther apart.  I can tell it's going to get very lively in our house.  I look at Sarah and see how blessed I am to be her Mother. I am so thankful God gave me this special little girl.  Happy Birthday to our Sarah!!!

Stuck To Yourself?

I never will forget my second born daughter Katie looking out a window as we sat waiting on mom in a Walmart parking lot and seeing a young preteen girl walk by and saying; "Daddy, she's stuck to herself." It caught me off guard and I asked her to repeat herself and sure enough, that was her evaluation of the young lady or should I say girl. I laughed out loud and tried to not act like she had the statement wrong, but later as she got older I reminded her that her version of "struck on herself" was very sticky..Ha! Well, in remembrance of Katie's famous words, here is a few evidences of being "stuck to yourself."

1. If you take more pictures of yourself than anything or anybody else, you might be stuck to yourself.
2. If you look in the mirror more than 12 hours out of a 24 hour day, you might be stuck to yourself.
3. If you are worried more about number 1 than you are anybody else, you might be stuck to yourself.
4. And lastly if you regard what someone else thinks more than displaying the image of your creator, you might be stuck to yourself, and also stuck to worldly ways or perceptions.

I seriously think you should "love" yourself, but please, please don't get sticky.

TV Verses The Computer

Many people have decided to take out the "Beast" as it is often referred and start spending more time together as a family. I'm of course talking about the TV. We do not have cable television or local channels piped into our home for one main reason. It takes away our precious time as a family and we don't have a lot of that as it is...We do still have the TV for viewing videos or TV shows we choose.
Now I said that was the main reason, but there are more...

Commercials are deadly; and you can't really watch any type programming from cable without having to view them or at least turn off the TV until the storm passes. Also, there just wasn't anything that we like on TV, except the very rare occasion that we could find something wholesome and for the most part that was on a religious station.

The next topic is going to ruffle some feathers in Blogger land, but I'm going to go ahead and say it...
If you are one such as I that thinks the TV is or most certainly can be a "Beast" in your home, then you have to hopefully realize that the computer is the "Beast's" cousin the "Dragon".

The only difference I see in the "Beast" verses the "Dragon" is the commercials...That could and probably will change in the future when commercials will be mandatory over the internet...

Here's what you can get from the TV and Computer that is equally deadly to your family:
1) Less time with your family
2) Immoral items (you fill in the blank)
3) Misinformed or biased opinions about a subject.
4) Addiction to either...

And the list goes on, and on, and on.....Just like the energizer bunny.
